GeoGuessr on mobile: the full setup guide
Official app limits, browser workarounds, best control settings and how to run helper extensions on Android via Kiwi Browser.
GeoGuessr has both an official mobile app and a mobile-friendly browser version. Each has quirks. Here's how to get the smoothest experience on iOS and Android in 2026.
Option 1: Official app
Available on the App Store and Google Play. It supports Duels, Battle Royale, daily challenge and country streaks. Missing: team Duels, custom maps in some regions, and any extension-based helpers.
Option 2: Mobile browser
Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android both run geoguessr.com correctly. Zoom and pan gestures are inverted vs desktop — set "two-finger pinch = zoom" in the settings before your first ranked match.
Option 3: Kiwi Browser + extensions (Android only)
Kiwi is a Chromium-based Android browser that supports Chrome extensions. Install any of the helper extensions covered in our extensions guide, sign in to GeoGuessr, and everything works exactly as on desktop.
Best control settings
Turn off compass-based rotation (it drains battery and desyncs from gyroscope), disable haptic feedback (it hides gesture registration), and switch minimap to "always visible" — the auto-hide version is a real handicap on small screens.
Frequently asked questions
Does the official mobile app support Duels?
Yes, ranked Duels and Battle Royale both work on the iOS and Android app since 2024. Team Duels are browser-only.
Can I run helper extensions on mobile?
On Android yes — install Kiwi Browser which supports Chrome extensions. On iOS no — Safari doesn't allow the required APIs.
Is PRO shared between mobile and desktop?
Yes. PRO is tied to your account, not device. Sign in on both — you get the same features.
Which is better for competitive play — phone or tablet?
Tablet. The larger screen makes reading road signs and license plates realistic. Phones work but sub-2000 elo Duels become tough.
